Newsweek ranks Empower Retirement among ‘America’s Best Companies for Customer Service’

Magazine recognizes the personal factor in business success

Empower Retirement, the nation’s second-largest retirement plan provider,1 has been recognized by Newsweek for its customer service among retirement planning companies.

In Newsweek’s inaugural list of “America’s Best Companies for Customer Services 2019,” Empower Retirement is in the top three ranked companies with which to save for retirement by U.S. customers who have used the services, made purchases or gathered information about services in the past three years.

In collaboration with analytics firm Statista, Newsweek selected the companies based on an independent survey from a sample of more than 20,000 U.S. customers, who were asked whether they would recommend brands to friends or family. According to Statista, they also were asked to assess brands in the following areas: quality of communications, technical competence and range of services, customer focus, and accessibility. A total of 132,954 of customer evaluations were collected.

“At Empower, we are very focused on the customer experience,” said Edmund Murphy III, President of Empower Retirement. “We’re excited that our customers view us a company that works on quality communication and technical advances that make doing business with us a little easier and a little friendlier. We’ve built our company with the goal of providing the best customer service and it’s great that Newsweek has taken time to highlight the importance of the personal factor in business.”

Newsweek collected and analyzed data across 141 retail categories. The final list recognizes the top three brands in each category and is published on the magazine’s website.2 It also will be published in the next print edition of the magazine.
